Ecofont is just a brilliant idea to use less ink for printing text. Take a look.
Today’s western culture tends to go the way of "grow or die". As a consequence, "bigger, faster, more" are the pursued characteristics. It’s just that sometimes, smaller is bigger, slower is faster and less is more. In fact, it is exactly because everyone is looking for advantages in "bigger, faster, more" that we might be safer to bet on "slower, smaller, less".
Ecofont is a nice example of how less can actually be more. Not in the sense of slickness, like for example how Apple tends to package it, but in the sense of being sensible. Nothing qualifies as slick in the EcoFont, but there is a beautiful way of challenging basic assumptions and providing a sensible solution that just works.
In a world dominated by over consumption and not enough resources, the exercise of utilizing less to produce more value is one that we should all practice.
